Insects far more than seed. Dried mealworms are the core food, especially through the nesting weeks.

Why is my nyjer feeder ignored?

Almost always age. Nyjer loses oil quickly; fresh, dated seed brings finches back.

How should I store a 20kg sack?

Decant into a sealed bin somewhere cool and dry. Oil-rich seed dislikes heat and damp more than cold.

How often should I clean feeders?

Weekly for dishes and trays, every few weeks for tubes and suet cages. Warm water, a brush, and dry fully before refilling.
